Hello lovelies!

Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween! I loved seeing all of the handmade costumes around on FB and insta. The creativity of the sewing community never ceases to amaze me. There are some fantastically talented sewist out there.

Now that all the Halloween fun is over it’s time for the month of November, which in House of Curves world means it’s time to break all the fashion rules!! We decided to start this series to inspire other curvy sewist to break the “rules” that tell us what we can and cannot wear. Every month we will take turns with a different theme. This month I will be breaking all the traditional fashion rules that say you should not wear horizontal stripes as a curvy woman. Before sewing, I always loved horizontal stripes on myself and never understood when I was told that they made you look bigger because in my mind I looked fantastic.  I’ve always been stubborn and in the camp that you can wear whatever the hell you want whenever you want. As long as you aren’t harming anyone else or yourself, rock on! I want to help inspire everyone to wear allllll the horizontal stripes.

To get started, I made the Forte top from Love Notions in this perfectly drapey rayon spandex from the stash. I decided to change up the stripe direction on the peplum to recreate this shirt I found on Pinterest. Simple but the perfect staple for spring/summer/fall in Florida.

That’s all for now, but stay tuned throughout the month, in our Facebook group and Instagram to see what else we have planned for this month.  Till next time!
